Unbelievable localised flooding but Yorkshire Dales is open!

In Leyburn yesterday when the unbelievable storm hit! Never seen so much flooding so quickly & the noise from the marble-sized hailstones was deafening on the car! The on-call Leyburn North Yorkshire Fire Service were brilliant helping so many, despite their fire station being flooded too.

The flooding including Andrew's elderly parents road, who have just moved into their new bungalow, immediately behind where the first photo below is taken. As the road tarmac has not yet been laid, the raised ironworks meant the water just couldn't flow into the drains but straight down the road. The firefighters worked through the night to pump out the water. No damage & all safe. Phew! Bit close & unfortunate timing.

Just down the road at our cottages and our home in West Burton & Newbiggin - just a bit of heavy rain, nothing more.
