The Dairy
The Dairy replicates The Byre with all services on the ground floor. In addition, The Dairy provides facilities for guests with mobility, hearing and visual impairments to National Accessibility Standards, if they need them. If they don't, then they almost all just magically disappear! Take a look at the photos on the Accessibility page.

What Our Guests Say...
Another fabulous stay at The Dairy (our 8th!). The warmest of welcomes, as always, from Diane & Andrew is so appreciated on our arrival at this beautiful cottage and stunning surroundings, Visited our favourite places : Harlow Carr, Thorp Perrow, Himalayan Garden - all accessible using their available Trampers. Thank you once again Diane & Andrew and we are already looking forward to our return visit!
Another fabulous week. Explored a few new walks with the wheelchair/handbike from Debbie North’s book (Walks Without Stiles) and Yorkshire Dales website: (1) Settle Loop - a long & steep uphills round section and the bridal path past Stockdale Farm was too tricky (2) Castle Bolton to Carperby - great path from the car park at Bolton Castle and stunning views (3) Grimwith Reservoir - lovely walk round the reservoir with a few tricky slopes (4) Reeth Moor - a stunning walk past Old Gang Lead Mines. The climb up to Great Pinseat is worth it for the views. Only a few steep sections. Many thanks to Diane and Andrew for being fabulous and helpful hosts. The Dairy cottage is brilliat for wheelchairs!
Our fourth stay here and, as always, a haven of tranquility and luxury. Thank you Diane and Andrew for such a perfect blend of luxury and accessibility! So hard to find.
Another fantastic relaxing week in this fabulous cottage. We keep coming back to 'Cottage in the Dales' and already looking forward to our next visit in December.
Another amazing stay at The Dairy (our 7th) and blessed with 11 days of dry, mostly sunny weather. First visit to the Himalayan Garden & Sculpture Park made possible by the recently acquired Tramper (part of the outdoor mobility scheme). Well worth a visit. Thank you once again Diane & Andrew for accommodating our needs and always providing a warm welcome and being the perfect hosts. We look forward to our planned visit next September (or hopefully before!).
Another wonderful stay at The Dairy and the glorious weather has been a very special added touch. Diane and Andrew's garden looking absolutely stunning even this early in the year. Did all our usual things yet we never run out of things to do. Capped off our stay with an evening meeting at Ripon races, a very pretty little racecourse. Thank you Diane, Andrew, Rachel and all the other who contribute to making the Cottage in the Dales such a perfect holiday destination that always manages to surpass expectations. We look forward to returning.
A very short break but well worth the journey. Everything here in the cottage, grounds and surrounding area are as wonderful as always. Looking forward to our next visit in November and the different season. It has been a treat to see the Dales wake up from winter. See you soon.
Another fabulous stay at The Dairy. Had to return for our fourth stay and to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Thank you for the welcoming pack and home made bread. Weather mixed but we enjoyed every day - local walks, visited Kiplin Hall and Gardens, Northallerton, Mainsgill Farmshop for lunch. Visited Stone House Hotel, Hawes and Wensleydale Heifer for evening meal. This is one of our favourite places. Already booked for next year. Thank you so much again to Diane and Andrew.
(poem) Another Christmas and New Year, happily spent with much good cheer. Waking up to see the snowfall, on Christmas Day, there was none at all. Walks in the sunshine, admiring the view, Being blown off our feet in Leyburn too! We had our share of wind and rain, but snug in The Dairy we never complain. We're always grateful to be here, especially at this time of year. Thanks for your company and all you do, to make Christmas special and New Year too....until Christmas 2025, take care of yourselves.
Had the most amazing first stay here! Wonderful place and Diane is so helpful. The Dairy's accessible features have been perfect for Rob's needs (he has MS), yet it has been so beautifully converted. You would never think there was so much accessibility - nothing clinical or medical here! The decorations for Christmas were the perfect finishing touch. Had a wonderful meal at the Wensleydale Heifer, who were so welcoming and friendly (not the toilets however are not easily accessible). We are already planning our next stay! Thank you so much Diane for everything you have done.
Wedding Anniversary treat and what a treat! Thanks Diane and Andrew for a truly wonderful 4 day stay in The Dairy. The attention to detail is really impressive and equally the warm welcome. This has been our first stay and won't be our last! Have a peaceful and Happy Christmas to you all.
Another fabulous pre-Christmas stay in The Dairy - the cottage is wonderfully festive, really putting us in the seasonal spirit. The Dales have been stunning this year. We have seen so many barn owls during the day whilst exploring the countryside. See you again in March. Merry Christmas Diane, Andrew and Rachel.
What a treat to experience The Dairy in its Festive Glory, made even more seasonal by an overnight fall of snow. Another amazing stay at this beautiful cosy cottage with everything we need in place to make it totally accessible for our need. Enjoyed the Christmas Gift & Food Fair at Ripon Cathedral and a trip to Mainsail Farm Shop (excellent recommendations from Diane). Thank you once again Diane and Andrew for your warm welcome and always ensuring we have everything we require to make our stay so enjoyable, Our thanks to Rachel for decorating the cottage in advance of our visit (Diane & Andrew away on holiday). Looking forward to our return visit in May 2025.
Brilliant week as usual. A couple of rainy days but it doesn't make any difference, the scenery is just as beautiful. Thank you Andrew and Diane, your cottage is really home from home. We even had two friends come for coffee and they were blown away by it all and booked it for themselves next year. That says it all. A great big thank you.
So lovely to ee the number of returning guests and we will certainly be joining that elite group! It has taken us over a decade to finally make the trip to spend time with Diane and Andrew and so gad we did. The cottage lacks for nothing - even our own personal benchmark of 'egg cups' was met! Already planned our next trip back next spring. And it goes without saying we have totally fallen for this fabulous part of the UK. Long may it remain unspoilt! Huge thank you!!
