Awards

Cottage in the Dales are delighted to have received a number of industry & public voted awards for our business. Sometimes nominated by other organisations or even by ourselves and judged by a panel or the public, we are simply amazed and honoured to receive such recognition.

Why enter for an award?

When we enter for an award ourselves, it makes us look at so many aspects of our business at the micro and overall level and see what we do and how we can improve even further, as there is always room to improve. To reach a final is simply amazing as we consider all finalists to be winners. To come in the top two or three, well that is such a differentiator. To win, well no words give the feeling justice. Such recognition give our guest quality assurance to book and stay at one of our cottages. We always say our greatest award are returning guests. But it is always great to have a Grand Night Out of course, especially to represent Yorkshire!

The top 6 nominations from all the categories for the evening then went forward to the Euan's Guide People's Choice Award, which included UK and overseas companies such as Glasgow Airport and South Africa's Table Mountain Aerial Cableway! We are honoured, delighted & truly gobsmacked to say the least as our accessible cottage, The Dairy, has been awarded the LABC Building Excellence Award for the Best Inclusive Building in England & Wales 2018 at a superb awards dinner at the Park Plaza Hotel, Westminster in London. We were honoured to be representing Yorkshire at the Grand Finals after winning the regional award for North & East Yorshire and then asked to represent Yorkshire.   We were definitely the ‘David’ amongst the ‘Goliaths’, especially as we found out afterwards that one of the other 11 finalists in our category was the £1 billion Bloomberg building in London!!!! Thank you LABC (Local Authority Building Controls).

National Winner - Best Self-Catering Property in England 2017 (April 2017)

The proudest day ever for us! The Byre from Cottage in the Dales is the NATIONAL WINNER of the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence : Self-Catering Property of the Year 2017!

We are truly dumbfounded to be recognised by the tourism industry to be the best in England ... alongside having so many returning guests each year as our greatest award. It doesn’t get any better than this! The Byre has come a long way in such a short time. Six years ago The Byre was structurally unsound and about to fall down. The Byre received its first guests just 4 years ago. Since then it has been full for 90% of the year with only a handful of nights not used each year. Awarded best in Yorkshire last November along with Inglenook, The Byre is now the best in England.

Exciting News - We are thrilled to have won the White Rose Award for the Yorkshire Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year 2016. Returning guests will always be our greatest ‘award’: they demonstrate that we are delivering a unique product, which they want to experience again and again. In the meantime, we will continue to pride ourselves on delivering a personal experience, whether someone is coming for the first time, or returning for the tenth. Taking guests to a restaurant on their anniversary or recommending walks - our pleasure is ensuring theirs.

Amazingly, we were also a finalist in 2017 and 2018!
