#AccessDay #AccessibleYorkshire

'Disabled Access Day' is celebrated once a year to help promote making places around the country more accessible. We are aiming to make everyday #AccessDay in the Yorkshire Dales. All part of the campaign for #AccessibleYorkshire.

Accessible Itinerary

We love working with Jane & Gillian of Accessible Derbyshire and Debs of The Outdoor Guide to build an 'Accessible Itinerary' of walks and places for guests whilst staying at our fully accessible cottage The Dairy, along with other local businesses too.

Below are some ideas of places to visit. Full details are provided to our guests in our 'Accessible Itinerary'folder for them to take out and about during their stay .... attractions, eateries, walks and not forgetting accessible toilets. Also in the cottage are an array of accessible walks to view on the TV, courtesy of The Outdoor Guide featuring Debs North, who just loves 'making the inaccessible accessible'. Follow the links on the logos below to find out more.

'See, feel, experience, the Yorkshire Dales'

Cottage in the Dales have always partnered with a number of quality businesses across the Yorkshire Dales - one of these being Yorkshire Trike Tours. Jason Richards takes our guests on a very unique sensory ride through so many parts of the Yorkshire Dales for as long as they wish, which is most definitely a 'Distinctly Dales' experience to get to know the area.

One of our first guests at The Dairy - Steve Uzzell from Essex, who has MS - gives a glowing testimonial about what the day out with Jason meant to him and his wife Marian. As a result, Yorkshire Trike Tours now offers tours that give 'access for all'. Read all about their experience of 'See, feel, experience, the Yorkshire Dales' here.

The Outdoor Guide - Making the inaccessible accessible

Julia Bradbury leads The Outdoor Guide (@TOGWalks) , promoting walks, accommodation and places to visit around the UK. Debbie North (@accessTOG)is the Ambassador for accessible walks with The Outdoor Guide. Debs has done many accessible walks across the Yorkshire Dales and beyond. Debs and the TOG team have stayed at The Dairy and our cottages to film and review our accommodation and nearby walks. Our guests can view the TOG accessible walks on the TV at The Dairy before venturing out and about.

A busy accessible visit to the Yorkshire Dales

Gillian Scotford of Accessible Derbyshire & her extended family, with 3 disabled teenagers, stayed in all 3 of our cottages at the end of February 2019. During their stay, they tweeted over 40 times about accessible places to visit, details of which are in the above mentioned Accessible Itinerary folder for use by our guests. Here's a flavour to whet your appetite.
