Unforgettable ride on the footplate of a steam train!

A #GrandDayOut in #Yorkshire like no other! Diane thoroughly enjoyed a truly amazing & unique experience of riding the footplate of the 'Repton' steam train on the North York Moors Railway! With 6 male ancestors from her father upwards working on the steam trains going back to the 1850's, including her Granda driving the #FlyingScotsman in WW2, Diane followed in their footsteps, just for a few hours! She can now appreciate the conditions they worked in - hot in summer/freezing in winter, and the skill of the driver and fireman as they continuously keep a balance of the water, steam pressure, fire (even where to place the coal!), controls & the train line itself. It was non-stop the whole journey! Got to pull the whistles of course! Fancy the experience - 2019 sold out, so book for 2020 for this marvellous experience - just one per day! Thank you to all the North Yorkshire Moors Railway team, many of whom are volunteers, young and old!
