Guest Book - The Byre
Another wonderful visit. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts and thinking of absolutely everything! We were very busy with visits to Bolton Castle (I'm brilliant sunshine!), Harewood House to see the wonderful Turner/Jane Austen exhibition and Levens Hall House and Garden. The garden team were busy trimming the topiary!
Three years since we were last here. Reassuringly lovely. A very good week of walks and exploration. The weather influenced what was feasible. We walked around Richmond and Jervaulx Abbey in very dramatic conditions. A special mention on this occasion of the garden. It really does look splendid no matter what colour the skies above happen to be!
Had another lovely stay in this beautiful cottage. Hope to be back soon.
Our second visit (first in The Byre). Everything, as ever to a very high standard. Lovely part of the world and a comfortable, cosy cottage to enjoy the Dales. Perfect!

Another lovely holiday staying in The Byre. Diane and Andrew are perfect hosts and couldn’t be more helpful and welcoming. The weather was superb and we have enjoyed Wharfedale, Wensleydale and Swaledale at their best - wild swimming in Wharfedale, walking in Wensleydale and Swaledale, and seeing the red squirrels near Hawes and the sheepdog demonstration. We had one day of rain which we spent at the Dales Countryside Museum - a very compact & interesting museum, well worth a visit. Every room in The Byre is a joy to be in. We will be back. Our first stay at The Byre and enjoyed it just as much as Inglenook. The warmest of welcomes from Diane and Andrew and the highest quality and standards as usual. Booked for 2027 already!

Our third return to the lovely Byre here in Newbiggin. Honestly felt like returning to a long lost home - warm and welcoming, beautifully turned out and welcoming. All this thanks to our wonderful hosts, Andrew and Diane. Thank you again for designing, maintaining and continuing to make The Byre available, to us and so many others who look forward to being here.
Thanks again Diane and Andrew for yet another lovely week at The Byre. We’re losing count of how many trips we have made now, but are already looking forward to our next.
As always, everything at The Byre is perfection and beyond, Warmest welcome, plenty of local info and suggestions of things to do and places to visit. May favourites walks revisited and have enjoyed performances at the Swaledale Festival. The Curlew Safari from Castle Bolton was wonderful and we will definitely do that again on another stay here, Thank you Diane and Andrew for everything, 5 stars really aren’t enough to reflect what you offer at Cottage in the Dales.
